Rini & Butler went through an incredible overhaul over the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026. About a third of the book is actually brand new to the current iteration and didn’t exist in the previous five. I think about half of those iterations were removed.

I realised, though, that I couldn’t remember how the book ended in the previous iterations. So many new scenes, characters and settings were added that I was struggling to remember what even happened in the previous versions other than the core plot beats. So I took a look …

🫣 I opened and closed those documents like when you accidentally open your phone camera to take a picture and it’s in reverse mode. There’s a reason I couldn’t remember the original scenes 😅

The upside of this is I got a good look at how far Rini & Butler and my writing has come! All of the major cuts and changes I made in the last year were definitely worth it and created a much better telling of the story than in the previous iterations. Though I still have those post-assessment submission worries about things I could improve or change, I am actually super proud of myself and what I’ve created ☺️
