When the trees are with their leaves, it is a spot one could hide in.
The original library that made its appearance in the novel was the State Library of Queensland, however, the context of the scenes didn’t make much sense in the grand scheme of things based on the decisions the characters would have made. I actually haven’t been inside the Annerley Library 😅 but it’s one of the only local libraries I’m somewhat familiar with and so I pictured this one instead.
Rini & Butler, Releases 31st October!
Walking for the better part of the night, Butler comes upon the library, the building dressed in a sheen from the steady rain that’s started and the lights illuminating the walkway up to the front doors. He waits in the dark, watching it but, save for the few public cleaner-droids de-littering the street and occasional car, no one moves near the library. He crouches in the garden, switching his lights off and using the time until the opening of the library to remember why he’s there in the first place.
