For the month of September, I will be preparing to write the first drafts of Volume 2!
The process I’ve set out for the Say Nope to the Trope Series follows a “prep, draft, edit, break” process before publishing. The reason I’ve decided to do it this way is because it’s similar to my writing blocks structure—that seems to work for me the best out of a lot of trial and error—and I wanted to give myself adequate time to prepare the chapters so that I can maintain consistency. That’s one skill I truly desire to hone with this experimental series.
My biggest flaw as a writer—other than my rollercoaster confidence in myself—is my consistency. I jump around projects a lot, and it means that I often don’t properly finish anything. Rini & Butler has been the first time that I’ve dug my heels in and focused on a single work, polishing it until it’s publishable before looking at other projects.
There are a couple of reasons that are likely responsible for that though, from my bouncing attention to only recently believing that I can publish anything. I think I deliberately didn’t pursue a “finished product” because I didn’t think I was getting to that point anyway.
Say Nope to the Trope: Volume 1 will start releasing in October. The first chapter will be uploaded October 4th on Wattpad, with chapters uploaded weekly on Sundays after that (at least, this is the current plan).
If you’re interested in this little serial experiment, you can check out more information via the link in my bio, or subscribe to my newsletter via hopfieldiswriting.com! Changelogs will be uploaded to my website if you’re also interested in seeing the editing process as it happens.
