I absolutely adore stone character growth, or grumpy growers. Often there’s a beautiful character arc that shows one can be vulnerable and strong, and I often relate to the difficulty of communicating with others. They usually prove that one can change and adapt, finding a better understanding of themselves and others without having to completely throw away their real identity; they just find it by chipping away the stone plating they’ve pulled up around them.
