I have been buried under sewing and paper today. I am really living my artist’s and office dream, but at the same time, time really flies when you’re having fun. I’ve been making some great progress in areas that I once thought I wouldn’t, and it reminds me that we shouldn’t say “I can’t do it” but instead say “I can’t do it yet”. Everything (for most people) takes practice, some things more than others. And that’s okay. Not starting something because you think you can’t do it will always have the same result: being that you can’t do it. So, even if the first few times are hard and don’t look like any progress is being made, trying is better than thinking about it and then regretting never have done it. The sooner you start, the sooner you get better.

So, that’s my little bit of motivation today. Look at that thing that you’ve been putting off because you’re afraid you won’t be good enough and just tell that little part of you “everyone has to start somewhere”. That’s something I always tell the new workers when they get upset or embarrassed over a mistake. “It’s okay, you’re learning, and everyone else here had to learn to at some point.”

One response to “I Almost Forgot”

I actually get motivation from getting to the things I’ve been putting off in general, so that’s a good one. And yes, I think being okay with sucking at something is a great way to go about life. Thanks for this post!
