Following a writing prompt from the Instagram writing.prompt.s, I’ve again changed my mind (although this is probably subject to the critiques I receive back from my group members). I haven’t used any of the prompts before, but they do have interesting or amusing ones that would be great to work on one day. I usually don’t like using prompts that already have a ‘thought out concept’ (basically more than a line) because I feel like it would be plagiarising but I’m trying to get over that strange complex and am hoping to start with this one for my writing project.
The prompt was:

I instantly thought of a runaway adolescent and a robot who just wanted to protect her from everything, even if that was from herself.
From my Morning Pages:
“Why do you keep following me? It’s annoying.”
“To keep you safe.”
“I don’t need your help.”
The robot built a shelter to protect them from the elements.
“Don’t you need to rest or something?”
“No. I’m powered by solar energy, as long as there’s the sun, I am fine.”
“I hope the sun blows up.”
“I do not, because then you would die also.”
They try to kick him in the head but the robot stops it.
“Couldn’t bear to be kicked in the head, right? That’s so human.”
“You flatter me, but you would have shattered your ankle.”
Irene Boggan hates the world. She finds staying alive a chore but has enough hope left to stop her from committing suicide. Cast out by her parents (in reality, they were murdered but she protects herself by thinking otherwise) she’s just one of the runaway children in the “Liberal Age”. And then she meets Aquila, a servant robot who decided she needed his help more than the rich family he had been purchased by. Now going by Rini, she finds that she can’t shake the robot from her life, and through she doesn’t want to admit it, he’s helping her regain her strength and take back her life. However, he legally belongs to someone else, and what will he do once she’s fixed? Will he leaver her?
Riri paints his body and renames him Butler because of the way he speaks (formal British).
This is what I currently think about writing and so I am considering switching my piece once again and taking this on. The only issue is that my publishing proposal is due in a week, and so I really need to get myself together if I want it to be done on time. I’ll post an update on the piece and think that this will be my ‘progress piece’ for this semester, where I’ll upload snippets and my writing process on it. It shall be dubbed: Writing, Processes and Robots.
That’s a terrible name. I’ll probably change it.
