So, I’ve been calling it “NaNoMo” but it’s actually “NaNoWriMo”? That’s how much I know about it. I also wasn’t sure whether it was an official challenge or just something a lot of people take part in, and I think it’s both? For now, I think I’ll be taking part in it unofficially, with the idea to just write 50,000 words before December starts. I don’t know if there are other rules or anything.

And, I’ll be honest, I haven’t started. But, I thought it could be another project to kind of document through here.

The Idea

I have the idea, and I’ve started plotting. I’ve grabbed a notebook, which will be my NaNoWriMo notebook—for now and in the future because I rarely actually finish notebooks (it’s like a great feat when I do)—and I’ll start my plotting there.

So far, I have two characters, a base plot and two identifiable obstacles. Only issue I can see so far is I’m not entirely sure what the motive is for the “main character” is. Everyone else in this concept has a motive, or at least an easy surface one, but the main character is almost like the narrator, and is just there. So that’s something I might have to work on … or will I?

I got the idea when I was having that breakfast date by myself, which I think I did mention. I loved the coffee and I loved the food, but, as always, I couldn’t finish it. I’ve had this problem since my high school years, and some days I can easily finish my meal, and some days I can’t. And so I was staring at the half-eaten plate—I finished about 3/4 of it in the end—and thinking about the increase in homeless people in the particular area I was in. And so I thought: an app, where I trade my half-plate for a story from someone else who would appreciate the food more than the bin would.

And that’s where I’m starting.
