I even brought my laptop with me on my commute to work today, so that I could have some time to write something a bit more substantial for Friday. Sometimes I have more time at home, but other times I’m just firing something off through my phone, and typing for long periods of time on my phone is undesirable. But if I write it out by hand, I know that I’ll just have to copy it over to a computer eventually, and so it’s “double-handling”. And even so, despite having brought an easier way of writing something with me, I can’t think of anything to write. Thoughts fire off too quickly and too insignificantly for them to transform into something that might interest others outside of my head. Perhaps, I should try taking my earbuds out.

The world is always that little bit louder when I take my earbuds out. The sounds aren’t in my skull like my music would be, but my music is at least familiar and has been invited there. On the bus, you hear the blaring of the AC fighting the beginning of an Australian summer, and the rattle of the bus, louder at the back and so more anxious sounding. The engine thrums and there’s a weird sound to the air because it’s all just chilled and pumped in.

My bus missed my stop even though I pressed the button and so I didn’t have enough time to get coffee and breakfast and write before work. I just had to stop where I was up to. And work was a nightmare. So today was okay.
