Sometimes, the desire to write, the rush of creativity and ideas, happens when I don’t need it to. Usually during work. I can sit and stare at the screen for hours without any words when I have free time, and then when I’m meant to be getting ready for work, I’m suddenly locked and loaded and ready to fire at a page. That’s why I started recording some of my notes, but sometimes that’s a bit inconvenient to do in those times as well.

I wish I could delay it like an alarm. “Hey, um, could you give me a couple of hours to get my work done and I’ll get back to you? Oh, you won’t be there when I finish? Oh, okay …’

That’s why it’s important to note take or at least write up “pallets”. Catch as much of it as you can, and hopefully your inner artist can sniff the remnants later and recognise it.
