Some people marvel at the ability of other’s to write, and I didn’t understand that for a while. I have a friend who sometimes can’t wrap his head around writing and how you improve your skills for writing (pertaining to my degree), and that was surprising to me. But then I’ve had the other end of the same stick, where people really underestimate what a skill writing is and think it’s for anyone that can string a sentence together. It’s like singing, most people can do it, but only so many have an actual talent for it. And sometimes you can hone your skill and improve, and sometimes you can’t.

Writing is easy, good writing, however, isn’t as easy as some people think. And you can tell they underestimate the effort and work that goes into writing when you read their work. Now, I don’t speak for all writers, of course, but this miniseries will be about my writing process in terms of “just making stuff up”.

“Just Making Stuff Up” will cover how I personally go about constructing aspects of my writing, particularly when making my writing more credible and realistic. Some of the parts might be small but some of them are going to be long-winded, and so that’t why I’ll be making it a miniseries rather than one huge post.

First up, I think I’ll tackle Character, though I think it will be my favourite section to write, I think it might be the largest section to get through, and so I’ll start with that. Although, I’m not 100% sure how I’m going to do this yet, I just suddenly thought it would be fun to do, and it gives me something extra to write about.
