I’ve always imagined that Monday as a person must be quite nice. They’re neatly dressed and walking around with a bell in the morning, holding a coffee in hand as they coax us into the beginning of the week with an enthusiasm we sometimes aren’t ready for just yet. Monday is so passionate and enthusiastic about ensuring that you get a good start on the week that they don’t mind having to drag you out of bed. They might be hated, but they’re doing their best for you.
There aren’t any big changes for this week, and I’m hoping to continue building the momentum I started in the past couple of days in terms of writing (editing in particular).
Tomorrow, I will also be participating in a Day of Mourning. If you don’t have any idea why January 26th in Australia is a Day of Mourning, or you protest and insist that it is “Australia Day”, take some time tomorrow to educate yourself. You can start with the AIATSIS page ‘We hereby make protest’ or even check out the Indigenous X article ‘Why we need to change the date of Australia Day’, better yet, see their Invasion Day Archives. Sovereignty never ceded.
For the rest of the week, it’ll be about catching up, planning, working and writing, and whatever I find that I need to do. I spent a lot of my waking hours last week scrubbing scuff marks out of the walls. Seven years can do a lot to the house, although I swear that most of the damage is just the house tearing itself apart … literally … it’s falling apart and pulling apart most places where it joins with another panel or a doorway. Hopefully it doesn’t fall down before we move out.
