For my internship unit, my first assessment task is due this Friday. The unit is pass/fail so I don’t get marks or a grade that contributes to my GPA at the end of the semester. This unit is done in four phases and the first one focuses on preparing for and securing an internship. I’m kind of worried about this unit but I think that’s just the nerves of venturing into something more serious than an ordinary unit.

There’s a lot of support from the coordinators of the unit, especially given the current circumstances of the unit. I’m currently looking through all of the guides for CVs and Cover Letters. We’re allowed to submit our CVs and Cover Letters again and again until they’re approved by our supervisor but the sooner they’re submitted and approved, the sooner I can apply for an internship and the sooner that I can get accepted (hopefully). After that’s accepted and apply and receive an offer/get accepted, then I have to draw up a Proposed Role. I don’t completely understand what’s expected of me just yet and I think that’s the scary part. Interviews, proposals, applications, professionalism etc. I want to do it right.

I’ve had a look at the internships that the uni has made available and have picked the three that I hope to apply for/work for. The idea is that we write a Cover Letter for the one we most wish to do our internship at and then once we’ve been given the green light that our letters are good enough, we tailor them to each internship appropriately. I’m excited to work for any of the options that I want to apply for because they all interest me and I’m certain that I’m going to get the kind of industry experience that I’m hoping for from them.

It’s kinda dawning on me that this is it, this is going to be the real world of the industry that I want to be a part of (or a least a toe-dip in the pool of it), and I don’t want to mess it up, even if I still pass the unit and graduate, I want to make sure I do a good job for whoever accepts me as an intern.
