So, while I was sorting out my desk today, I realised that I actually have a stack of books that I’m meant to be currently reading already… Is it only me who manages to do that? Stack up books I’m reading and then forget about them just because the curtain is covering them and there’s DND materials over the top of them? Hello, I am potato.
I’ve already started reading Pride and Prejudice and have the schedule set up and don’t know if I want to change it or just try and double up and kill all of the birds with a couple of stones.
This is the list of ongoing readings I have:
- The Odyssey, Homer
- Birthdays for the Dead, Stuart McBride
- It, Stephen King
- The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas
- Great Expectations, Charles Dickens
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson
- The Secret River, Kate Grenville
I’ve coded them using the key from my previous post, and am going to decide individually how I’m going to approach them because some of them are further along and I’m done with some of them.
I’m going to continue with all of them except It and Great Expectations. The reason for this is because I’ve basically finished It but just can’t bring myself to keep reading it because of ending, which is a personal choice I stand by. I don’t think I have the patience to continue with Great Expectations right now and so that can go straight back to the backburner.
The Odyssey and The Secret River are the furthest along and so I’ll start with those. I’ll basically read them alongside my other list based on how much of the book I’ve already read. I usually don’t read different books at the same time, but it might help give me a break from the other books.
The order is expected to be:
- The Secret River
- The Odyssey
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
- The Hate U Give
- Birthdays for the Dead
Let’s hope I don’t find another pile!
