I’ve always wanted at ‘best friend’. That person that knows you more than most and you can spend an infinite amount of time with them without getting bored. A consistent relationship that you don’t have to work really hard to get and then maintain. Someone you don’t really fight with and shares majority of the things you like. Someone who’s my own best friend and not anyone else’s, as selfish as it sounds. I use to have ‘best friends’ at some of my schools. Always a bubbly, taller girl who made up for my short timid nature. They shared a love for Harry Potter but didn’t read too much beyond that. It was mostly the short novels that were written for girls that age but I was more interested in the copies of John Marsden’s first two books of the Tomorrow When the War Began series. Romantic movies and sappy movies they liked but I was already watching three ratings above my age (mostly due to parental neglect, no one to censor anything). And so they found others with those commonalities, meaning I had part of a best friend. Which is only a best friend if you’re willing to share.
