There was a moment they felt like they’d been stunned. The world seemed to hiccup, giving the feeling that time had hesitated a moment before resuming as normal. There was an explosion neither of them could completely comprehend. Not vicious or violent, but instead like an intense blooming of a flower, spreading all throughout their veins, touching their fingers with tingles and their cheeks with flushes of warmth. A stifled goofy grin and a corner of a smile that couldn’t be stopped. Glorious green and beautiful brown, glimmering and finding an electric shock from each other. Embarrassed, they both looked away but it was within three seconds that they glanced back. She unconsciously touched her hair, hoping it was neat and he put a hand on the back of his neck, sheepish at how hot it’d become. The bus stopped and it filled again but even from where she was sitting and he was standing, their eyes found one another. Laughing and chewing their nails on the inside, they wondered if it was just because they’d matched in accessory. After their fourth glance, they solemnly thought that they would have different stops. Until they both stepped onto the same platform.
