They say that when you’re uncertain, flip a coin. It’s not that the coin will really decide for you but that you’ll realise what you want it to land on while it’s in the air. The act of flicking the coin just gets you in motion.
In learning more about myself, I’ve found that if I can compromise by taking one small action, it’s often enough to get the ball rolling. I have been wanting to improve my writing by producing different pieces rather than my cycle of “ums” and “ahs”. To do this, I created my writing rolling tables.
I love rolling dice, it’s one of my favourite parts of playing Dungeons & Dragons, and with my campaign on a long hold (waiting for players to organise a session amongst themselves), I am starved for the click-clack. So I started thinking about ways I could bring the dice into other areas of my life that could help. I came up with two ideas:
1. look into solo DND campaigns
2. use rolling tables to help figure out what I’m going to write
I’ve made some quick writing prompt roll tables that I’m planning on improving and expanding later on after I practice using them for a bit.
I got these rolling tables from R.N.W. It’s an online store that sells Dungeons & Dragons, or general roleplaying, resources. I bought one of the deluxe packs years ago and always use parts of it whether I’m the DM or the player.

Sometimes you need to combine two fun things to make it seem fresh to your brain. The older I get, the more I realise that rather than fighting one’s brain, one needs to learn how to trick it like a child; reframing something until it sounds appealing (⌒_⌒;)
