For semester two, I have to do another writing project. Although the assessments are slightly different, in the end I’ll still have to have a 6,000 word manuscript to hand in. I’ve been thinking about what I want to do for this project.
So far, I’ve been planning on starting my cultural safety journey project for this submission as it’s something I have been thinking about and new that I haven’t done before, as it’ll be a non-fiction work.
I’ve started planning by outlining my purpose and skeleton of the work. It’s an important project to me and so I want to make sure that it is done properly. I want to creative something honest, thought-provoking and give an understanding of the journey I’ve been on in the past two years and how it has informed me and my writing today.
By doing this, I’m also exploring formal writing, as it won’t be merely biography but I will be discussing texts and ideas in the work. I will need to take a look at non-fiction writing and the parameters for what I want to do because I’m not familiar with it and I know that the tutors are big on everyone understanding as much as they can about the form/genre they’re writing in. I did that also with the Interview with a Serial Saviour for the last writing project (which has been positively recieved by the people who have read it).
I’m going to continue to plan my cultural safety journey idea as well as think of a backup if I find that I can’t produce my journey project to the satisfaction I want it during the semester.
